About The Spencer Clinic of Trichology

This premises has been a trichological clinic since the mid 1950s.

Richard Spencer became a qualified consultant and registered member of the institute of trichologists (M.I.T.) in 1981 and took over the practice in 1983, forming "The Spencer Clinic of Trichology Ltd.

All through the years, the clinic has managed to maintain a very professional and yet personal level of service and expertise, and is globally renowned.

The practice prides itself on its success through knowledge, capability and care. The premises may not be as large and impersonal as some centres, and this allows us to be accommodating and attentive so that every patient is continually assessed on each visit.

CONSULTATION

The first visit usually begins with an in-depth and private consultation with Richard Spencer. He will ask you to explain the reason for your visit and will then examine the hair and scalp. A diagnosis will be made and carefully explained so that the patient knows what is the cause of the problem, why, remembering there can be more than one reason, and whether it is a treatable complaint. If so, he will further explain what therapy is necessary and how long for. Advice will also be offered on home hair care, any blood tests necessary and possibly diet.

THERAPY

If therapy is advisable, and the patient is in agreement, they will undergo an external stimulative and cleansing treatment, or small series of treatments, depending on the severity of the complaint. This would involve the following:

The treatments are deeply stimulative, cleansing and therapeutic. Improvements are usually noted within weeks. However, due to the therapy also being so relaxing and soothing, we are visited by many people who do not suffer with a specific problem, but know of our therapy and just come along to enjoy the experience as well as the after-effects of the way the hair and scalp feels.

RICHARD SPENCER PRODUCTS

The Spencer Clinic formulates and manufactures a complete product range on the premises. These products are used as part of the treatments and are also prescribed, if necessary, for home use.

The range of shampoos, conditioners, lotions and creams are non-medicated, ph balanced and allergy-free, combining the purest essential oils for hair and scalp health, with the emphasis on scalp sensitivity and hair condition.

HAIRDRESSING

The Spencer Clinic is one of the few clinics in Europe to work alongside a full hairdressing facility working with European, black afro-Caribbean and Asian hair.

This means that the trichologists and the hairdressers work in harmony ensuring all chemical and mechanical procedures are administered under trichological supervision, taking great attention and care thereby minimising any possibility of damage to the hair or scalp by over-processing.

MEET THE TEAM

SAMANTHA STEWART - Trichological therapist and Afro hair specialist

Samantha is the manageress (and agony aunt) at the Spencer Clinic. After completing college qualifications, she began strict supervised training here 12 years ago and is a highly respected member of the team by customers and staff.

Besides her trichological expertise, she also specialises in all aspects of black Afro Caribbean hair and can be found on a website called "blackukonline.com"

FABRONIA - Hairdresser Specialising in Middle Eastern Hair & Threading

A superb hair artist, Fabronia has been hairdressing for over 20 years. Her ability with hair is highly regarded and can work wonders with the least manageable hair types.

She also specialises with middle eastern hair and is one of the few people in London to work in the art of Threading ( depilation of facial hair with cotton thread).

MONIQUE - Hairdresser

Monique has been working alongside Fabronia for the past 15-20 years.

She is an amazingly creative and determined stylist who is always able to find a style to suit the occasion.

LETTI - Trichological Therapist

Letti manages to support both the trichological and hairdressing departments.

She is the "tour de force" and helps to keep the wheels well oiled. All this with a continual smile and good grace.
